Vapers have only recently burst onto the market, but it is not an insignificant industry. According to the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2016 approximately two million high school students in the U.S. had used an e-cigarette in the past 30 days, accounting for 11% of all high school students.
Although it is still a nascent market in Spain, the Unión de Promotores y Empresarios del Vapeo (UPEV) claims that nearly half a million Spaniards have already joined the craze, and the number continues to grow. With the rise of vaping and CBD, many users are wondering if vaping CBD oil is safe.
Why have vapers become so popular? It is often said that vaping is a healthier and safer alternative to smoking, but is it true? In this article we tell you the truth to find out if vaping CBD oil is safe.
A brief history of vaping
Vaping has been around for centuries, albeit in much more primitive formats. The ancient Egyptians, for example, used very hot stones to vaporize herbs and inhale the smoke, and Hindus have used the hookah for millennia.
There is no doubt that smoking has been prevalent in the Western world for many years. In the past, some doctors even prescribed cigarettes to improve the health of patients. Now we know very well what the risks of smoking are and we are aware that they are detrimental to health, even being one of the leading causes of preventable death in Spain.
It is often said that Joseph Robinson came up with the first e-cigarette idea in 1927, although it was Herbert Gilbert’s smokeless and tobacco-free cigarette that was first patented and really caught the attention of consumers in 1963.
The first modern e-cigarette was created by Hon Lik, who filed the patent in 2003 in China. It hit the market in 2004, and within just two years it was being marketed in Europe. It arrived in the USA in 2007.
Today, vaping has become very popular. Many people use it as a way to quit smoking tobacco and others start vaping without ever having smoked. The problem is that because vaping is so new, we don’t know anything about its long-term health effects. There are reasons to believe that it might be healthier than smoking, but that doesn’t mean that vaping CBD oil is 100 percent safe.

Why do many people prefer to vape?
Vaping involves heating a liquid inside a cartridge that is placed in a vape device. The liquid is heated enough to turn the liquid into a vapor that the user inhales.
Originally cartridges were invented for nicotine, becoming an alternative to smoking, but now vape users can also buy devices for vaping CBD oil.
The idea behind this practice is the elimination of the combustion process. When smoking a conventional cigarette the combustion process creates toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that are inhaled along with nicotine and negatively affect health. Smoking allows the inhalation of hundreds of toxins that are very dangerous to human health.
To reiterate, not too many studies have been carried out on the subject so far, although some scientists are making efforts to learn more about the effects of vaping. It is often suggested that the liquids used for vaping contain significantly fewer harmful toxins than those found in a traditional cigarette, so it seems that it is not all bad news.
In addition, vape users claim that the vapor is gentler on the lungs than smoke, making vaping CBD oil a more pleasant practice than smoking.
Vaping or smoking
Let’s explain in more detail the effects of nicotine and the chemicals inhaled from smoking compared to the toxins in e-cigarettes.
Although few studies have been conducted, some preliminary research has been done. The Royal College of Physicians of London has suggested that any long-term health hazard from e-cigarettes “would probably not exceed 5% of the harm caused by tobacco smoking.” The Roswell Park Cancer Institute published a study in the British Medical Journal in 2013 that explained that the toxicants in vape liquids were up to 450 times less than those found in a conventional cigarette.
Tobacco smoke emits more than 7,000 chemicals, including at least 70 identified carcinogens. Passive smoking can also be dangerous, and in fact it is estimated that in Spain between 1500 and 3000 people die each year as a result. E-cigarettes, on the other hand, do not produce the same toxic gases or contain tar, suggesting that they may be a safer alternative.
In addition, nicotine is addictive, which is why many people find it difficult to quit smoking. Nicotine is not what causes cancer and other health effects, but it certainly causes some problems. However, a study by the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) has found that nicotine vaping is not as addictive as smoking, showing that traditional cigarette smokers have stronger urges to smoke than vape users.
